What Does A Contractor Do?

Repair

Do you have a technical bend and like solving problems? Maybe being a repair technician would be a good option for you. In this role you would get to work directly with a licensed contractor who would be able to teach you how to both troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems. 

New Installation

Do you have a meticulous nature? Maybe new system installations are more your speed. In this role you must be spot on with both your measurements and your mapping of the system layout.

Warehouse work in a distributor setting is a key cog. Here you would be receiving new materials from the manufacturers and handing them out to the correct contractors. Here you will learn how to identify parts and equipment, use a fork lift and other lift safe equipment.

Shipping/ Order Processing

Shipping/ Order Processing  is another critical element for an HVAC distributor. Here you would be picking orders making sure the correct item is selected every time.

Sales Counter

The Sales Counter is the heart of most distributors. Here you will directly interface with the contractor customer base  helping them order the correct parts and equipment. In this role you may flex both your mental and physical strength as you may flex into both a warehouse role and a shipping/order processing role. 

Manufacturing

Assembly

Do you have a meticulous nature? Maybe Assembly is a good choice for you. Here you are responsible for assembling whichever part your manufacturer creates.

Brazing

Many Manufacturers have a brazing station. This is a highly detailed highly specialized role in the organization. This is a critical element where you hold the keys to creating a lot of the finished goods used by the assembly team. 

Testing

Once a product is assembled, you now need to test it to make sure that its within acceptable service range. Many manufacturers do not ship product that is not tested. This can be a critical bottle neck for many manufacturers

Engineering/ New Product Development

Before a product can be built first it must be designed this is where engineering plays its first role. This however is not engineering's only role, in most cases they are deeply involved in any updates or corrections made the the products.
